Excellent input. I am an RN RD MPH who completed an FNP with a focus on vulnerable pop care. Rural settings need to be placed in another category.
#1 RNs & Med Students from these areas need to be assured 20% of the admit base
#2 We need to assure that these students received priority ARRA funding to repay loans.
#3 We must use GIS tools like that at the University of MS & demand that rural groups receive telemedicine training urgently. That is a percentage of the community based participatory research & comparative efficacy reform for larger metro HC universities must be related to this.
#4 We must use our APNs & PAs effectively by prioritizing opening new programs in communities with smaller population density. These communities represent 56% of the land mass so that it only equitable.
#5 With the Telemedicine Associations we should demand that expert panels be brought in to give rural areas expertise in health IT. Examples for this type of integrate program include Purdue University School of Nursing combined with their engineering program.
#6 We should state that if 20% of admits to schools are for rural citizens, this must include all schools so that rural areas obtain information transfer at a rate which is consistent with their urban partners
#7 We should work with the largest NGO research team---> The Gates Foundation to assure that vulnerable rural American children are prioritized
#8 We should demand that an investigator team for the Children's Health Study propose interventions annually from data streams. Action is needed not further arcane proposals. We know the maxims but we need the manpower.

Thanks for reading. My angst is related to seeing too many rural children go with inadequate care.
